Maxpedition - Pocket Organizers

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Tuesday, 09 August 2011 23:51

Maxpedition has had their EDC Pocket Organizer around for some time and apparently customers of all kinds of pant types have been asking for new size variants. The original EDC size was made to fit comfortably in a cargo pocket and now the Fatty size makes full use of the cargo space; Mini fits better in side hand pockets, and Micro is even smaller to fit in the majority of pant pockets.

For general features each pouch opens clamshell style using double zippers with the exception of the Micro using a single zipper. All have handles which add to the ease of retrieving from a pocket and the majority have PALS webbing on the back (except the Micro) to allow mounting to other gear if desired. On the exterior fronts are mesh sleeve pockets and loop velcro fields, with the Micro being the oddball once again not having and loop velcro and does not have a velcro seal on the mesh sleeve pocket. The interiors are basically varied layouts of elastic with some sleeve pockets so I'll give some quick breakdowns:

Fatty
Left Side: key lanyard, cord loop, sleeve pocket, 3 multitool sized loops with 6 pen sized loops on top
Spine: single elastic loop
Right Side: single zipper sleeve pocket, 2 large vertical loops with 4 medium sized loops on top

EDC
Left Side: key lanyard, sleeve pocket, 3 multitool sized loops with 6 pen sized loops on top
Right Side: small cord loop, sleeve pocket, 2 mid-plus sized loops with 4 small-plus sized loops on top

Mini
Left Side: key lanyard, sleeve pocket, 2 multitool sized loops with 4 pen sized loops on top
Right Side: cord loop, sleeve pocket, 1 large loop with 3 small-plus sized loops on top

Micro
Left Side: sleeve pocket, 3 small-plus sized loops
Right Side: cord loop, sleeve pocket, 2 mid sized loops

It would be fair to call me a little lazy for not making more pics with the interiors full of goodies, however you can see I've personally found them great for small electronics and accessories. The Fatty size breaks the mold a little bit being more inviting to making a first aid or survival kit. All are great for note taking kits with even the Micro being able to hold the smaller sized Rite-In-The-Rain notebooks. On that subject the Micro makes for an solid side opening alternative to the Maxpedition 3" x 5" Notebook Cover. For some personal improvement recommendations I'd like to see more loop size variance; for example I don't think most people carry 6 pens and there isn't much else you can do with that small loop size. That aside, the pocket organizer series works out great to keep small EDC type items in line where they would be quite the mess if just tossed raw in a pocket. With the new sizes users will appreciate specific matches to their holding needs and clothing accommodations.
